However, as I already knew that Лев Копелев was in “Марфинская шарашка” and became the prototype for Лев Рубин’s character in Александр Солженицын’s “В круге первом” (one of the best Russian books, in my opinion), I was very surprised when I did not find anything about these events when I was finishing “Хранить вечно.” And so I continued reading with “Утоли моя печали,” which is dedicated to “Марфинская шарашка” specifically and actually is inseparable from “Хранить вечно.” I wasn’t especially excited about Лев Копелев’s personality and have found the reading too long and quite tiresome, so I’ll take a pause with his memoirs for now
